ah. exposed brick walls. certainly there are technical/maintenance aspects to be considered,  (if not whitewashed); and for the rentals, exposed brick walls is often viewed as an real estate ruse to bring some “design” intent to the property (not to say these faux exposed brick wall panels). so here you go, there are actually two types of exposed brick walls included in this property. what do you feel about the exposed brick wall?

the layout of the apartment can be challenging as the unit is at the ground floor next to the street, and, the organization of the rooms  is a linear arrangement from hallway, living room to bedroom/kitchen/bathroom. yet these black frames successfully defined each space without interrupting the visual openness.

truly a thoughtfully curated interior that is rich in characters (love these ceiling bulbs) yet remains its simplicity in color & material palette. this gotta be one of the dream bachelor pad i’d fancy!

and yeah… the ‘new york loft style’ is probably the second next to the exposed brick wall as an overused term in the interior design field. but you get what i mean.

happy sunday!

gloomy day inspo: black and millennial pink (yeah)

it seems so many centuries ago since my last post on this blog. a gloomy saturday afternoon,  little bean and his dad are napping upstairs.  somehow i found this amazing quiet(? despite the block party music outside our house) time that i can finally surf, strategically, and blog about things i like.

i started to follow scandinavian homes, a stockholm-based interior styling studio,  about a few months ago and i’ve been swooning all over their always refreshing take on the interior styling. you should definitely check out their insta.

this property, have just right amount of black, balanced with natural wood materials and a splash of, well, millennial pink from the furnishing. the wood and petal color soften the mostly black and white interior and the result is just simply gorgeous.

i am definitely sold, again, about the mesh panel railing.

happy weekend everyone!

the spring weather in philly has been pretty inconsistent so far: you may have a super beautiful 70s day on friday and then here comes a gloomy 50s raining day over the weekend. hello mr. spring!

i am so looking forward to having a consistent 70s at least three days in a row (am i asking too much?) so i can finally put on white sneakers.

current obsession: fife-based scottish design studio tom pigeon‘s  foiled prints. minimal graphic with lux foil touch ( and hand printed in UK)… as the designers described “a nod to glamorous 80’s beach parties”.

oh yeah, summer days.

happy monday!

we finally have our new front windows & door installed…! yay and yay! the black frame windows and solid black door look really amazing with the original brick wall and the marble lintel and stoops. to celebrate this milestone of our first home improvement, today’s post is all about interior (steel) black frame window/door.

when in doubt, frame it with black. (and you know what i would say for the interior, right? when in doubt, paint it with white!)

i am having two subjects in one post today.

remember the virtual monday post? that’s right, the realization of the project looks JUST LIKE the rendering, in good way! the marble countertop/backsplash with brass trim, framed by black cabinets with brass hardwares… minimal yet rich in materiality, michitecture’s #1 design mantra.

and remember the atrium house by tham & videgård arkitekter featured back in 2012?  stockholm-based architecture office TVARK’s book looks perfect in one of the HG7 project, packhuset. you can look inside the book here via idea (which offers really awesome book preview). buy the book from amazon(US).
