completed in 2006, a beautiful gallery in berlin inhabited in three existing buildings which previously was a window factory. designed by berlin-based robertneun architekten, within the rooms there are two exhibition halls, gallery office, storage areas and the living rooms of the gallery.

as architects described, three main uses were distributed so each space can provide multiple overlapping uses.  living room is next to the exhibition room, kitchen is at the public court (which can also serve as a bar at the openings), the apartment in different buildings with different spatial qualities.

gallery halls provide the flexibility to each artist’s specific subject and different type of events.

the white washed concrete, levigated and painted brick walls, rough plastered masonry walls with painted roof timber structure introduced a intentionally unfinished character to the space. gorgeous. gorgeous. gorgeous.(repeat)

architects have also re-established the relationship from outdoor to indoor by cutting out big windows on existing walls.

founded by art dealer giti nourbakhsch who is known for picking up-and-coming talents, it is unfortunate to hear they announced their closing earlier this year. yes, the gallery is permanently closed… (an interesting art-world reality article tells you behind the scene) i am wondering, what happened to this beautiful gallery space now, any new tenant?
