if i have to review a restaurant, the interior & ambiance is something i would pay extra attention besides the food & service. this relatively new restaurant vandaag (“today” in dutch) in east village, NYC, is serving northern european (mainly denmark and holland) food, using local/regional ingredients. the restaurant’s architectural style is simple and modern. through the selection of color, material and scale, the interior provides a  warm, local sensibility.

well- this is just my first impression from what i’ve seen on architect’s website. i am thinking to stop by sometime soon to do the field observation as a fan of northern european-design.

*update: we just went to vandaag that weekend- interior is as nice as images shown here, and the food was DELICIOUS!!

the look of interior

+ the detail of exposed concrete ceiling, great solution for basement interior.

one more shot to the bar area…

in case you’re curious what is the manufacturer of that artistic yet industrial look of pendent light? it’s from resistance design.

they had also designed this pendent light – a total vintage modern style.
