if you think stairs are just matter of means to get you from one floor to another, you probably are right, but not totally. they should be designed as part of the context/space as well,
from the choice of material, to balustrade style, to depth of tread…etc etc.
just like how you will match your outfit with a good pair of shoes. ( is that right )

recently i came across this ultra-modern stair design ” cells” from eestairs when doing some research.
( fun fact: based on veronoi diagrams, the cell design is randomly generated for each project )

isn’t it making you wonder: is this a sculpture?

for those who have children, i know you feel nervous about the balustrade opening… we will just need to pay special attention when go up and down. (as we always do)

and for those who are looking for space saving stairs? 1m2 will be my recommendation. ( the spiral stairs is designed to fit into a 1mx1m opening! ) yes i know you like to be special- they are available in all RAL colors!

  1. Hi, this is Cornelis van Vlastuin, founder and creative director of EeStairs. Thanks for your posting!
Just a remark; the Cells model is a very nice model, with a broad variety in designs, as all our stairs are custom designed. If you would like to see some more models, please have a look on the website of our design team in the UK. On their website you will find great design proposals (in fact, all these design proposals turned out into orders, so after some time you will see these on the corperate website http://www.EeStairs.com as well). A link to other Cells: http://www.eedesign.co.uk/en/30_Cells.htm. And about the mysterious floating glass one: http://www.eestairs.com/en/16_gallery_stairs.htm#wiel.

Good luck, and once more: thanks for the posting!
