every once a while i checked in media architecture, a great source to find out what’s happening in interactive architecture design. recently i spotted this project ” light sails” which best explained what a simple yet dynamic mediatecture could be.

designed by vienna-based architecture firm soehne&parter in collaboration with karl sodek, light sails are used as guiding symbols for the visitors at the state exhibition around the Millstaetter Lake, Austria.

cool part? the illumination of the light sails itself is reacting to the surrounding : the more people approaching the sails the more vibrate light.

the illumination is also reacting to the temperature : they are constantly changing their color. The colder the temperature the warmer the color of light is getting and inverse.
