oh, october

images via

it is hard to believe we’re now arriving at the month of october, the last quarter of 2016. didn’t we just pop the champagne and say hello to 2016?? crazy. and i am so excited to finally have some time to be back to the blogsphere.

here is a gorgeous apartment for sale (and sold!) from goteborg, sweden. subway tile with darker grout creates a sharper definition in this very light tone kitchen… and that white and gold hardware  combination is just so irresistibly good.

founded by brian faherty in 2003 following his discovery of a long-lost collection of cast-iron glass shade moulds in an abandoned warehouse, schoolhouse has every ingredients the creative makers believe in: the preservation of american manufacturing, thoughtful living and purposeful design.

+isaac pendant+

i’ve been eyeing this issac pendant for a while. the minimal look of scandinavian-meets-vintage would be perfect for our second floor hallway. the isaac pendant is part of the Schoolhouse Electric Original, handcrafted in the portland factory.

+brass hardware+

they also have the solid brass cabinet knobs & drawer pulls handcrafted in the USA from 95% recycled brass. simply beautiful.

plywood and marble

the freshly cut look of plywood pair with marble countertop, these two simple materials, are surprisingly a perfect complimentary to each other. so minimal in form but rich in its character. simply gorgeous. and hey did i mention there is a beautiful concrete floor (in true cement gray) that extends inside-out? it must be such a treat to have your daily meals or cup of coffee here with that view.

if you’re like me who still believe in concrete floor, check out these beautiful examples here and here by antwerpen-based architecture studio made architects.

the cool blue

vince_Luxe Linen Pull-On Trousers

this must be the most IT blue this summer season. now with the discovery of the blue pigment that could help to cool off the building – the vibrant blue will not only be spotted from runway but even to the building rooftops!

a bright blue pigment discovered in 2009 by OSU chemists which has high solar reflectance indicates that this ‘cool pigment’ could be used in a variety of exterior applications by reducing surface temperatures, cooling costs, and energy consumption. as a result of this testing, Shepherd Color Co. has licensed the patent for commercialization efforts.

learn more about this vibrant blue – “YinMn blue” – here.

+ capri blue by vince +

vince has launched couple styles with this “capri” blue. after all it is by vince. everything stay cool and minimal, including the colors. nothing too screaming.

the old-meets-new type of house renovation/extension work in UK has been one of my favorite go-to when i am looking for the urban dwell renovation inspiration. i recently came across london-based paper house project‘s work and the holton street project is a perfect sample of their work : minimal yet rich in personality,  which is also michitecture’s design mantra.

” We don’t think sustainability should be a special design feature, but rather a fundamental idea that informs every decision we make from start to finish.”

all project images and description are provided by paper house project (thanks james!).
